What we think
Rare Beauty is best understood through two decisions. The first is pigment load: the Soft Pinch blush is concentrated to the point that one dot covers a cheek, which is why a $23 bottle lasts a year and why every review warns you to use less.
The second is the packaging. Components are designed to be opened and applied with one hand — a genuine accessibility consideration that almost no other brand has taken seriously, and one that also happens to make the products easier for everyone to use.
Formulas and ingredients
Cream products are the strength. The blushes and the Stay Vulnerable line blend beautifully and sit well on skin rather than on top of it.
The base range is competent. Liquid Touch foundation is buildable and lightweight, though it wears shorter than Fenty's.
Some prices are hard to defend. Several products sit within $5 of prestige counterparts that outperform them.
Price and value
Premium for what it is. The blush earns it through sheer longevity of the bottle; several other products do not.
