What we think
Naturium's proposition is narrow and well-judged: take the actives people already know they want, dose them properly, print the percentage, and then spend the remaining budget on making them feel good on skin.
That last part is the whole difference. The Ordinary's Azelaic Acid Suspension works and pills; Naturium's azelaic topical works and does not. For most people that is the difference between finishing a bottle and abandoning it, and an active you abandon has an efficacy of zero.
Formulas and ingredients
The Niacinamide Serum 12% is the flagship and it is well made — higher than the usual 10% without being noticeably more irritating, in a base that absorbs cleanly.
The Azelaic Topical Acid 10% is the one worth switching for if you have tried and disliked the suspension format elsewhere. Same active, same strength, dramatically better texture.
The BHA Liquid Exfoliant is a competent salicylic acid at a working pH, priced well below Paula's Choice for a close result.
Where it is weaker: the range has expanded into body care and multi-active blends that are less focused than the single-active core, and a few products are fragranced where the rest of the line is not.
Price and value
Sits between The Ordinary and Paula's Choice, and is arguably better value than either — cheaper than Paula's Choice for comparable formulations, and far more pleasant than The Ordinary for a small premium.
